About this piece

Natural rudraksha beads, the sacred seeds of the Elaeocarpus tree, strung on auspicious orange thread with clear spacer beads. Sourced from Haridwar. Adjustable sliding knot fits any wrist.

The story

Rudraksha means “the tears of Rudra”. According to legend, the first rudraksha trees grew from the tears Lord Shiva shed after a long meditation for the good of the world. That is why rudraksha has been worn by sadhus, yogis and devotees for centuries.

Who can wear it

Anyone, of any rashi, age or gender. Rudraksha is one of the few sacred beads with no restrictions on who may wear it.

How to wear

Best first worn on a Monday, Lord Shiva's day.
Rinse in clean water, light a diya, and chant “Om Namah Shivaya” 9 or 108 times.
Usually worn on the right wrist.

Care

Remove before bathing or swimming; keep away from soap and perfume.
Wipe with a dry cloth. A drop of oil once a month keeps the beads healthy.
